‘Create traffic calming measures and improve safety for pedestrians on the B4293 road through the village of Trellech.’
Local resident, mother, and School Governor Vicky Evans needs your help in raising awareness as pedestrian access through Trellech is limited and very dangerous for all due to there being few pavements. She has put together this petition to try to raise awareness and gather your support on behalf of our community. If there is anything you can suggest that would help this cause please let her know.
Speaking after setting up the petition, Vicky said:
The reason for starting this petition is to primarily campaign for a much safer route to school and play group for children and parents. Currently parents do not feel safe when walking to school as a heavy volume of traffic passes through the village, often breaking the speed limit. However these issues face people of all ages. All residents of Trellech should be able to access the local amenities wthin the village and at present many people are forced to drive around the village to access facilities (Babington Centre, Busy Bodies playgroup, The Lion Inn, Trellech Primary School, GP surgery, recreational park, Methodist Chapel, and St Nicholas’ Church).
At present the partial footpath is incredibly narrow in places and does not follow the road all the way through past several key amenities. All members of the community should have safe and healthy routes to and from different venues. It is crucial that safe measures are put in place to avoid tragic accidents and the loss of life, and motivate more people to walk instead of driving their car, thus showing a commitment to a ‘healthy living’ across the board and reducing the community’s carbon footprint.
What can you do to help in the meantime?
