A friend of mine suggested that we love the time of year when we were born. That’s certainly true of me – I love the autumn. The nights are drawing in, we’re still enjoying mild weather and the autumn leaves will showcase this lovely valley in a wonderful way in the coming weeks.
There’s a lot to tell you this month – reports on celebrations and fundraising plus news about a couple of great events happening this month.
So, grab a mug of something warming and read on…
If you were at the Teas a couple of weeks ago you will have seen this magnificent cake, baked by Sue Flower – and decorated with the help of Linda Campbell. Yes, hard to believe, but we’ve been running for three years now!
Over those three years we’ve raised over £12,000 for the Village Hall and the Trellech BIG Weekend. We’ve also ‘spread the love’ through our Take Over Teas where local groups take over the teas and raise money for their cause. Nearly £800 has been raised this year via our Take Over Teas.
However, far more important to the Tea Ladies, and I suspect to most of our customers, is the opportunity to meet up with old friends, make new ones and start the weekend with a bit of indulgence! There’s such a great sense of community at the Teas and that, to me anyway, is its real success.
Of course, none of this would happen without the dedicated support of our lovely bakers and helpers who give their time, skills and resources for free to help Trellech Teas be such a huge success.

It’s our 6th Annual Apple Day this month. A popular feature in our calendar, this celebrates all things ‘apple’.
If you can donate excess apples, make apple related desserts, cakes, chutneys, etc., and/or offer a raffle prize, please contact Peter or Sue Flower on 01600 860754.
You can also bring apples to Trellech Teas – and collect ingredients to make something for the day.

Last month saw a group of hardy souls walk three peaks in South Wales to raise money for the play group. Well done to everyone who took part and thanks to everyone who sponsored the group.
As you know we occasionally have local providers of goods and services come along to showcase their wares. Here’s what’s coming up this month.

Take Over Teas
Dates for 2016
The Take Over Teas is an opportunity for local good causes to benefit from a ‘ready made’ fundraising event.
If you’d like your favourite cause to be one of these groups, please apply before November 27th 2015. Application forms can be downloaded hereor collected from Trellech Teas.
If we end up with more than four good causes, we will put them all to the vote with Trellech Teas’ customers being able to cast a vote each time they visit. Final decisions will be made by end of December 2015.
