Trellech Village Hall Newsletter – December 2015

I met someone recently (hi Brian!) who commented on what a fantastic community we have here in Trellech.  For such a small village we have a lot going on – and the Village Hall, along with the pub, church, playgroup, school and other organisations, is a key part of that success.  So ‘thank you’ if you’re an organiser, helper, participant or supporter – long may we continue.  We also have a thank you message from the Hall’s Trustees, the Friends of the Church and Trellech Trips for you below.

There are still activities happening in the Hall this month – so take a look at what’s on and we hope to see you soon.

Sarah

‘Thank you’ from the Trustees
The trustees of the Village Hall would like to thank everybody for their support during 2015 especially during the refurbishment process. We are particularly indepted to Peter Flower for all of his hard work and his band of volunteers who we would not have been able to do without. Trellech Teas continue to provide funding, Trellech United Community Council and the New Grove Trust have been generous with grants that have allowed us to do more than we planned.  Busy Bodies  still operate from the hall and as well as providing us with necessary income are a fantastic asset to the village. We would like to take this opportunity to wish everybody a Merry Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous New Year.

Trellech Teas
Christmas opening
Fridays 2:00pm – 4:30pm
Even our dedicated Trellech Tea ladies need time off over Christmas so we will be closed on Christmas Day and New Years’ Day.  We’ll be back on January 8th – pinnies pressed, cakes baked and tea pots warming, ready to welcome you all back after your Christmas break.

Trellech Teas
What’s on….

This Friday (December 4th) Sarah will be selling all things Phoenix.  That includes charity Christmas cards, general greetings cards, stationery and plenty of ideas for Christmas presents.  10% of all sales goes to Trellech Teas.  If you don’t know what Phoenix does, take a look at Sarah’s website here.

Over the next three weeks we will be raffling a lovely Christmas cake – made as usual by the talented Gladys Young, iced by the rather less talented Sarah*  Tickets will  be on sale at the Teas and we will pick the winner on December 18th at 4:00pm.

* This means the cake will taste lovely even if the icing looks somewhat ‘amateurish’!!

Take Over Teas

Last month saw the Friends of St Nicholas’s Church and Churchyard run Trellech Teas.  They made a very respectable £100 – so ‘thank you’ to everyone who came along and helped and supported.

The closing date for the 2016 Take Over Teas has now passed.  Applications are in and I’ll announce the dates and organisations running the teas in the newsletter next month.

Bath Christmas Market
‘thank you’
On Tuesday this week, 39 of us caught the bus to Bath to the Christmas Market.  A lovely day was had by all.  After expenses we raised £200 for Trellech Teas so thank you to everyone who came along and particularly ‘thank you’ to Simon Phillips who drove us there and back with a cheery smile!
