Do I detect a hint of warmth in the air? Spring has definitely sprung – all the beautiful daffodils have been nodding away for a while and I saw my first bluebell last week. What a lovely time of year.
This Saturday come along and meet the men from MARS and find out if they really are little and green! And, did you know there is a new NHS centre opening near Cwmbran? You can find out more about this and how it will impact other services at a meeting on Monday. And, if you fancy a slice of gluten-free cake on a Friday afternoon guess where you can find one?
So, grab a cuppa and read on……
A night with the men from MARS
Saturday April 9th 7:30pm
Enjoy a night with the stars with men from MARS (Monmouth Astronomical Research Society). Dr Keith Moseley will give a presentation on the Night Sky including the latest on Tim Peake and the ISS. After light refreshments Keith and Colin Harris will set up their telescopes for star gazing – weather permitting of course.
This event is part of the Chepstow Walking Festival. For more information on this, and all the other great events, please visit their website www.walksinchepstow.co.uk.
Future NHS Services in Gwent
Monday April 11th 7:00pm
Llanfrechfa Grange near Cwmbran is due to have a new Specialist and Critical Care Centre opening in 2019. If you’d like to find out what will be provided and how it will impact on existing hospitals or if you have any particular worries or questions you would like answers to (or if you’d just like to find out more about it all) then come along on Monday.
At the invitation of Trellech United Community Council Julian Hayman, of the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board will be outlining what’s being planned and answering questions.
Everyone is welcome.
Cakes at Trellech Teas
Did you know that most weeks we have at least one gluten free cake/biscuit option available at Trellech Teas? And, if you have any special dietary requirements, then as long as we know in advance we can do our best to cater for you too. We can’t cater for extreme allergies (e.g. very sensitive nut allergy) because all our cakes are baked in domestic kitchens, but we will do our best to provide something for everyone.
We also now offer ‘take out’ cakes. We’ve always done this on an ‘ad-hoc’ basis but not advertised it. However, if you’d like to take a slice of cake home for later or for someone who couldn’t make it to the Teas, please ask one of the Tea Ladies. After 4:00pm we can also offer larger slices of cake e.g. half a cake, or even a whole one if there’s one left (which is very unlikely!). Prices are based on the £1.50 per slice we normally charge.
Trellech BIG Weekend
Our next meeting to discuss plans for this year’s BIG Weekend is April 19th, 8:00pm at The Lion Inn. Please come along if you’d like to be involved or have ideas about the events that could take place.
All events will be posted up on the BIG Weekend website so take a look from time to time to find out what’s happening. www.trellechbigweekend.co.uk
