Trellech Village Hall Newsletter – December 2014

Welcome
Christmas is just around the corner, the nights will start getting lighter at the end of the month and we can all enjoy a break from our daily routine so there’s a lot to celebrate. It’s a quiet month at The Village Hall, but there are still some events you may like to come along to.  There’s a meeting on Monday about the plans for affordable housing in Trellech and if you’re stuck for present ideas, do consider Trellech Teas vouchers and see below for all the goodies that will be on display in the coming weeks.Wishing you all a very happy festive season, whatever you do.  Hope to see you soon.Sarah

Wi-Fi is here!
The Village Hall is now connected.  We are now a BT Hot Spot and Wi-Fi is also available using a password for all of our customers.  It’s available for people to connect to at the Teas, for sellers to be able to use their mobile devices for taking card payments and people running workshops or courses access to videos etc.  It’s free, though we do ask people to use access responsibly and will be monitoring usage in the coming months.

Affordable Housing
What’s it all about?
Monday December 8th 4:30pm – 7:30pm
Come along and find out all about the plans for affordable housing in Trellech.  You can register an interest in whether you want to buy or rent.  The more information we all provide, the more likely we are to get the housing we want and need in the village. If you’d like more information please contact David James, Rural Housing Enabler Monmouthshire at david.james@rhe-monandpowys.co.uk or 07736 098103.

Trellech Teas
Coming soon……
Friday December 5th – Karosa Jewellery
We welcome Karin Whittaker back to Trellech Teas with her wonderful jewellery, inspired by the woodland in which she lives.  She sources as much of her material as ethically as she can and makes some stunning, unique pieces.  Karin also runs workshops – a great present for even the least creative among us!
Friday December 12th – Picture sale
Peter Symes donated a large number of paintings to the Village Hall and we would love them to be hanging on walls in someone’s home rather than stored in the Hall, only seeing the light of day at the Teas.  Come along and pick up a ‘one-off’.
Friday December 19th – Petals of the Valley
Denise will be coming along with the most beautiful rosewater products, all made at her farm in Monmouthshire. All the rosewater is made using organic methods, distilled in spring water in a traditional copper still and bottled in precious Miron violet glass bottles.  You can use rosewater in cooking and for soothing wounds, as well as for more traditional scent.  Find out more on Denise’s website here.If you know anyone who would like to showcase their wares at the Teas, they can download an application form here.

Trellech Teas
Festive opening
We will be open every Friday except for December 26th when we will be closed.  We will be open again on January 2nd so if you’ve had enough of turkey and mince pies by then, come along and enjoy a cup of tea and slice of something less rich.
