Friday, 20th August 2015, 2:00pm – 4:30pm
Don’t forget folks that tomorrow is a Take Over Teas. This time it’s The Narth WI and Garden Club. You’ll see a few new faces donning the prestigious Trellech Teas pinnies but rest assured you’ll still be enjoying wonderful homemade cakes and service with a smile.
There will also plants, books and other goodies for sale.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to delays in the building work at the Hall Trellech Teas will be at The Methodist Church once again this week.
* Take Over Teas is an opportunity for a local group to host the Teas and raise funds for their cause. If you know of a group who’d like to take part, look out for October’s newsletter when there will be information about next year’s dates.
What a great weekend we had over the BIG Weekend – I hope you were able to make it to at least one of the events. There’s a short report below and a link to see some snaps of the weekend’s festivities.
August is typically a quiet month at the Hall – but not for our builders and volunteers who are working hard on the revamp.
As a result of the work Trellech Teas has relocated and we’ll be at our new home for an extra week. More on this and other news below.
Trellech Teas news
Due to the work going on at the Hall Trellech Teas has moved to a new, temporary home at The Methodist Church. We’ve really enjoyed our stay there – it’s been very cosy (in a good way) and it’s also been great that quite a few people now know what the inside of that building looks like.
We’ll be at the Methodist Church for another week (i.e. this Friday, August 14th) then hopefully back to the Hall the following Friday. If this changes, I will send out another missive and there will be a notice on the entrance to the Hall to make sure you go to the right place!
Take Over Teas
Friday August 21st
As you may know, every now and then we hand over the Teas to a local fundraising group. Our customers get the same great service and range of fantastic home-made cakes, but there will be a few new faces donning the prestigious Trellech Teas pinnies.
This month it’s the turn of The Narth WI and Gardening Club. In addition to Teas, there will also be a plant sale and produce and preserves, books and puzzles for sale. Please come along and support these two local groups – and meet some new faces.
If you are part of a local group who like to take over Trellech Teas, please look out for our request for applications in the October e-newsletter.
Trellech BIG Weekend
This event was a huge success. You may have seen the article in the local paper, but if you haven’t – here are a few highlights.
Highlights of the weekend included a very successful wine tasting supper at the Village Hall; the open gardens with 12 sites open in and around the village; the village walk and the charity music event at The Lion Inn which helped raise £400 for Ben’s Bonkers bike Bonanza in aid of the British Heart Foundation.
The Dog Show was popular too and helped raise more than £100 for Monmouth Food Bank.
Huge thanks have to go to everyone who helped organise the events that ran over the weekend and ‘thank you’ to all who came along, took part and enjoyed themselves.
If you’d like to see pictures of the weekend, please go to the BIG Weekend website.

Three times during this year Trellech Teas has been ‘taken over’ by a local group to help raise funds. Busy Bodies, St Nicholas’ Church and The Narth WI have all benefited from this scheme.
It’s been so successful that we’re going to hand the Teas over to four groups next year. If you’d like your favourite cause to be one of these groups, please apply before November 22nd 2014. Application forms can be downloaded here or collected from Trellech Teas.
If we end up with more than four good causes, we will put them all to the vote with Trellech Teas’ customers being able to cast a vote each time they visit. Final decisions will be made by end of December 2014.
